- FEC approved ₦438bn for road projects nationwide

The Federal Executive Council has approved a series of road construction, rehabilitation and public-private partnership projects valued at about ₦438 billion across different parts of Nigeria.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the approvals were granted on Wednesday during the council’s meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, disclosed the decisions while briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, saying the approvals covered major road projects as well as concessions for highways and a trailer park.

Among the projects approved is the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road in Ekiti State, with contract value of ₦159.83 billion. The project was awarded to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd.
The council also approved a ₦54.12 billion variation for the rehabilitation of the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road in Ogun State.
Another major approval is the reconstruction of a 15-kilometre stretch of the East-West Road linking Port Harcourt, Eleme Junction and Onne Port Junction in Rivers State. The project, valued at ₦74.51 billion, was awarded to RCC Nigeria Ltd. and is expected to be completed within nine months.
In Ekiti State, FEC approved ₦54.52 billion for the second phase of rehabilitation of the Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road. The project forms part of the wider Ado–Ijan–Iluomobi–Imesi–Ondo border route.
The council also approved the construction of Phases II to V of the Ilara–Iselu Road in Ogun State at a cost of ₦94.24 billion. JRB Construction Company Ltd. was selected for the project, which has a completion period of 24 months.
Beyond direct government-funded road projects, the council approved a number of public-private partnership arrangements involving highways and road infrastructure.
One of the concessions covers the development of the 7.9-kilometre Dikko–Maje section of the Suleja–Minna Road in Niger State. The project is valued at ₦56.75 billion and will be handled under a 40-year concession granted to Graciatech Engineering Nigeria Ltd.

FEC also approved a 25-year concession for the operation and maintenance of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The concession, valued at ₦96.43 billion, was awarded to LIB Concession Group.
Another major infrastructure approval is the development of a new trailer park at Aro-Ngwa in Abia State. The project is valued at ₦19.70 billion and will be operated under a 50-year concession by Greg Jane International Ltd.
The approvals form part of the Federal Government’s efforts to expand and rehabilitate critical transport infrastructure while using private-sector participation to support the development and maintenance of major road corridors.
The Works Ministry said the projects are expected to improve road connectivity, support commercial activities and strengthen transportation links across the affected states.
