EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson of the Federal Ministry of Education, Boriowo Folasade, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.
The clarification follows reports claiming that JAMB was no longer required for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across the country.
Describing the reports as false and misleading, the Minister dismissed the claims, insisting that no such directive was issued or authorized by the Ministry.
“For the avoidance of doubt, JAMB remains the statutory and legally empowered body responsible for conducting entrance examinations and coordinating admissions into all tertiary institutions in Nigeria,” the statement read.
Alausa emphasized that the established admission processes through JAMB remain fully operational and any contrary information should be ignored. He urged students, parents, and educational institutions to depend only on official communication channels of the Ministry and JAMB for credible updates on admission procedures and policies.
He further reassured Nigerians of the government’s commitment to maintaining transparency, fairness, and merit in the country’s education sector, especially in the tertiary admission process.
“The Federal Ministry of Education reiterates that there has been no change in JAMB’s statutory role, which remains central and indispensable to Nigeria’s tertiary education framework,” the statement added.
