- The platform will allow citizens and businesses to access multiple government services through one gateway
- Officials say the initiative will improve transparency, efficiency and digital governance across MDAs
The Federal Government has introduced the Government Service Portal, a new digital platform aimed at giving Nigerians and businesses a single online access point for government services as part of efforts to improve service delivery, cut bureaucratic bottlenecks and accelerate digital transformation.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the portal was officially unveiled on Tuesday during a soft launch in Abuja by Galaxy Backbone in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

Speaking at the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Galaxy Backbone, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, said the platform was designed to eliminate the need for citizens to visit multiple government websites or offices before accessing public services.

He described the portal as a unified digital gateway where individuals and businesses can conveniently find, access and use services offered by government institutions from one location.
According to Adeyanju, government services should be structured around the needs of citizens rather than the boundaries of individual agencies.
He noted that although many Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) had digitised their operations, users still faced fragmented and inconsistent experiences.
He explained that the new platform would consolidate these services into one trusted portal, making government interactions easier, more transparent and more efficient.
Adeyanju added that the initiative supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda by strengthening public service delivery, encouraging digital innovation and promoting economic growth through technology.
He also said the portal forms part of Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure programme, complementing existing systems such as digital identity, electronic payments and data exchange to create a more integrated government ecosystem.
According to him, the soft launch will allow government agencies to integrate their services, improve system functionality and gather user feedback before the platform is fully deployed nationwide.

He stressed that the success of the initiative would be measured by how easily citizens can access services, the confidence businesses have in dealing with government institutions, and the level of transparency and trust the platform fosters.
The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Nadungu Gagare, represented by the ministry’s Director of E-Government, Johnson Bareyei, described the project as one of the flagship initiatives under Nigeria’s e-Government Master Plan 2.0.
He said the platform would offer users a secure single sign-on system, eliminating the need to repeatedly submit the same information to different government agencies.
Bareyei noted that the project demonstrates the benefits of collaboration among government institutions to make public services faster, simpler and more accessible.
He added that the portal aligns with the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan, and Nigeria’s Digital Public Infrastructure framework.
He said the initiative would improve transparency, accountability, ease of doing business and the overall responsiveness of government services.
KOICA Nigeria Country Director, Eunsub Kim, represented by Senior Deputy Country Director Ki-Hyun Baik, described the launch as a milestone in the long-standing partnership between Nigeria and South Korea.
He said the portal represents the key achievement of the “Building a Foundation Towards Digital Governance in Nigeria” project and provides citizens with a one-stop platform for accessing government services.
Kim reaffirmed KOICA’s commitment to supporting the project beyond its pilot stage, noting that digital governance requires continuous collaboration and system improvement.
Also speaking, the Director of International Cooperation at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Sampson Ebimaro, described digital transformation as a vital driver of national development.
He urged stakeholders to sustain collaboration and regularly evaluate the platform to ensure it continues to meet users’ needs.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Digital Exploration and Technical Services at Galaxy Backbone, Olumbe Akinkugbe, disclosed that user acceptance testing was conducted across the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory before the launch.
He said 184 participants took part in the exercise, with more than 80 per cent describing the platform as user-friendly.
According to him, 88 per cent successfully located government services through the portal, while 71 per cent rated its speed as fast or very fast.
Akinkugbe added that 91 per cent of participants expressed willingness to use the platform again, while 99 per cent said they would recommend it to others.
He revealed that feedback from the pilot phase had already led to improvements in areas such as user registration, image capture and one-time password delivery, adding that more government agencies would be integrated into the portal during the next phase of implementation.
