The decision follows a recent Knesset law mandating Israel to cut all ties with UNRWA.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Dannon, commented “Following the legislation on UNRWA, the State of Israel officially notified the President of the General Assembly of the termination of cooperation with the agency.
“Despite the overwhelming evidence we submitted to the UN that substantiate Hamas’ infiltration of UNRWA, the UN did nothing to rectify the situation. The State of Israel will continue to cooperate with humanitarian organizations but not with organizations that promote terrorism against us.”
Israel has informed the United Nations that it is cancelling its agreement regulating UNRWA operations, Axios reporter Barak Ravid announced on X/Twitter on Monday.
The relationship between Israel and the UN agency has worsened following accusations by UN Watch that some UNRWA staff members praised Hamas for its October 7 attacks on southern Israel, where over 1,200 people were killed.
UNRWA staff were also alleged to have participated in these attacks.
