EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ogbonnia announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the APC chairman of Owelli Amoli Ugbo Ogugu Ward in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. The letter, dated Tuesday, was also copied to party officials at the local, state and national levels. He attached his APC membership card, returning it for necessary action.
In the letter, Ogbonnia said his decision followed extensive consultations with his family and political associates, as well as deep reflection on developments within the party and the country. He described the prevailing situation as untenable and unbearable, leaving him with no option but to exit the party.
He accused President Tinubu’s administration of failing to address critical national challenges, including insecurity, poverty and unemployment, which he said continue to threaten the future of Nigerians, especially young people.
Ogbonnia also criticised what he described as a lack of internal party democracy within the APC, alleging widespread imposition of leaders, marginalisation of loyal members, vendetta politics and nepotism. He said such practices had eroded internal participation and undermined the growth of the party.
He further alleged that the APC was aggressively pushing Nigeria towards a one party state by deploying underhanded tactics to weaken opposition parties.

He also accused the Tinubu administration of mishandling security challenges, claiming that the situation had compromised Nigeria’s sovereignty and exposed the country to foreign military intervention.
“The plot to re nominate Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2027 polls is a gross insult to the sensibilities of Nigerians,” Ogbonnia wrote, describing the president as irredeemable and having lost public confidence.
He concluded by thanking the APC leadership for the opportunity to
