Former Delta Deputy Governor, Amos Utuama Is Dead

Former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Professor Amos Utuama (SAN), has died at the age of 77.

While details regarding his death remain unclear, Utuama’s passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes from prominent figures across Delta State.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Ex-Governor James Ibori, under whom Utuama served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, paid heartfelt tribute to his late colleague.

“Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, my humble, loyal, and esteemed Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,” Ibori expressed.

“You were my steadfast legal foundation, executing your duties with unwavering commitment. If it were within my power to halt death, I would have done so for you.

“Farewell, dear Professor. May your pure soul rest in eternal peace.”

Current Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, also extended his condolences in a message on X.

“I have just received the devastating news of the death of Delta State’s former Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama.

Delta has lost a strong political figure, a great patriot, and an astute academic of worldwide repute.

Born on June 5, 1947, Utuama served as Delta State’s Deputy Governor from 2007 to 2015 under Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Known for his dedication to justice, he previously held the role of Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice during Ibori’s administration, leaving a lasting impact on Delta State’s legal and political landscape.
