Osazuwa, known by his stage name Zuwa, was fatally shot in Houston, Texas, USA.
Agbonayinma, who had officially declared his intention to contest in the 2024 Edo governorship election, addressed his supporters and party members in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area on Thursday.
Overwhelmed by grief, Agbonayinma expressed his family’s devastation, stating, “I have just returned from the United States after my son was buried. This is a very bitter experience that cannot be wished even upon an enemy.”
The grieving father explained that he is not in the right frame of mind to continue with any serious political campaign at this time.
In his address, Agbonayinma had earlier acknowledged the positive reception of his gubernatorial ambition, thanking various stakeholders for their overwhelming support.
However, the devastating loss of his son has led him to suspend his political activities temporarily, emphasizing the need for quiet time to grieve and heal.
The APC aspirant urged his supporters to stay united and throw their weight behind whoever emerges as the party’s candidate in the upcoming primary election, scheduled for Saturday.
He called for a level playing field in the APC primaries, emphasizing the importance of a fair and credible process.
Agbonayinma’s withdrawal underscores the personal toll of tragic events on political aspirations, demonstrating the need for empathy and a pause in political activities during times of mourning.
