EKO HOT BLOG reports that their joint outing comes just two days after President Bola Tinubu successfully brokered a peace agreement between the factions following nearly two years of intense political conflict.
The reconciliation meeting, which took place on Thursday in Abuja, saw all parties agree to end hostilities and work together for the good of Rivers State.
The three leaders were spotted together at the burial ceremony of Wike’s uncle in Rumuepirikom, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Wike’s hometown. Their presence at the same event marks a significant moment since the commencement of their bitter political battle.
The funeral was attended by several high-profile political figures, including Senator Allwell Onyesoh, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, Senator Olaka Nwogu, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Chibudom Nwuche, and former House of Representatives Member, Hon. Ken Chikere.
Also in attendance were South-South Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Victor Giadom, and former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Sam Sam Jaja.
While no political speeches were made at the gathering, the rare public appearance of the three major actors in the crisis has sparked fresh optimism that the long-standing dispute—which led to the declaration of a state of emergency in the state three months ago—may finally be resolved.
