Abia State Governor Alex Otti says he has constructed 414 roads across the state, measuring about 864.12 kilometres within the last three years of his administration in the state.
Speaking on Friday night during his regular media broadcast interactive session tagged “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians” in Umuahia, Eko Hot Blog reports that the state chief executive detailed a broad layout of achievements across public infrastructure, healthcare, land administration, and financial management.

Otti disclosed that alongside the completed road networks, an additional 82 road contracts measuring roughly 212 kilometers are currently at advanced stages of field execution across major towns and rural axes.
The administration’s fiscal stabilization policy has driven a substantial reduction in the state’s total public debt.
According to official budget tracking, Abia State has aggressively brought down its liabilities by about 60 percent, transitioning the state’s total debt from approximately ₦191 billion recorded in 2023 to less than ₦50 billion by the conclusion of the 2025 financial year.
Otti cited independent fiscal tracking metrics, including the national State of the States report, which saw Abia rise sharply from the 17th position to the 4th position in overall fiscal sustainability, institutional transparency, and budgeting accountability.

The operational updates further highlight a complete digital overhaul of the Ministry of Lands and Urban Planning.
The governor confirmed that his office has signed 4,707 Certificates of Occupancy (C of O), a metric that surpasses the total volume of land titles signed across the entire region between 1999 and 2023.
Working in structural partnership with the United Nations Habitat agency, the government has completed the long-awaited new Abia Master Plan and digitized over four million legacy land files.
In the green transport ecosystem, the state is preparing to receive a new fleet of high-capacity electric buses by July, supported by dedicated solar-powered charging grids under construction in Aba and Umuahia.
The administrative scorecard wrapped up with extensive interventions in state public health and education systems.
The governor revealed that 821 healthcare professionals were newly recruited to reinforce primary healthcare outposts, with 277 centers undergoing structural retrofitting supported partly by the World Bank.
Over 93,000 residents have been formally enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme, while major upgrades are concurrently ongoing across general hospitals in Ohafia, Arochukwu, and Ikwuano.
Otti maintained that his government remains fully committed to maintaining structural accountability, confirming that several illegally acquired state assets have been formally identified as part of ongoing transparency reforms.
