Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, commissioned a series of landmark projects facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, in a ceremony that drew state cabinet members, traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and residents from across the council area.
Ekohotblog reports that the commissioned projects include the Standard Paved Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Road, the newly constructed Administrative Block named ‘Bola Ahmed Tinubu House’, a modern Legislative Building, and the groundbreaking ceremony of the Ibeju-Lekki Housing Estate — all aimed at strengthening governance, infrastructure, and quality of life for the people.

In his remarks, Hon. Olowa traced the inspiration behind these projects to the aftermath of the 2020 EndSARS protest, during which the old secretariat was burnt down.
He noted that the destruction did not deter his administration but instead became a driving force to rebuild with purpose and innovation.
“The secretariat was burnt down in 2020 during the EndSARS protest. When I assumed office, I made it a top priority to rebuild and create a more functional and dignified working environment for our staff and the people we serve,” he said.
The newly inaugurated Administrative Building, now named after Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, features fully furnished offices, a health clinic, an ICT hub, surveillance cameras, and free Wi-Fi connectivity. The Legislative Building provides a dedicated space for local lawmakers to effectively perform their duties.
The 400-metre standard paved road, now named Babajide Sanwo-Olu Avenue, further adds to the local government’s infrastructure legacy — easing mobility within the council premises and beautifying the environment.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, while addressing the crowd, commended Hon. Olowa’s performance, describing it as exceptional and worthy of emulation.
“This is one of the few times a Local Government Chairman has invited the Governor and members of the state cabinet to commission projects of this magnitude within just four years in office. It shows a deep commitment to community service,” Sanwo-Olu said.
He noted that naming the road after him was a gesture of trust and appreciation he deeply values.
“I’m honoured by this recognition, but more importantly, I am proud that these projects will improve governance and service delivery at the grassroots.”
On the proposed Ibeju-Lekki Housing Estate, the Governor expressed optimism that the project will address housing needs and boost economic activity in the area.
He further urged traditional leaders and the public to continue supporting the local government in its development drive.
“I encourage all our monarchs and community members to stand by the leadership of Ibeju-Lekki. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous future.”
Residents and traditional rulers expressed pride in the chairman’s leadership and thanked the Governor for his continued support.
