In a farewell message released by the club on Friday, Guardiola said he felt the time had come to move on, stressing that while his managerial spell was ending, the memories and bond with the club would remain.

During his decade in charge, the 55-year-old led Manchester City to 20 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and the club’s maiden UEFA Champions League triumph.
His collection also featured FA Cups, League Cups, the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield titles.
Guardiola arrived in England in 2016 already regarded as one of football’s elite coaches following trophy-laden spells with FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich, where he won domestic league titles and Champions League honours.

His influence extended beyond silverware, with his possession-based style widely adopted across English football at both professional and grassroots levels.
Several leading coaches have also acknowledged his impact, including Mikel Arteta, a former assistant who guided Arsenal F.C. to the Premier League title, while Arne Slot has previously cited Guardiola’s Barcelona side as an inspiration.
Reports have linked former City assistant and current Chelsea F.C. manager Enzo Maresca as a possible successor.
Guardiola’s departure also comes while Manchester City await the outcome of investigations into alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations, a case that has remained in the spotlight since charges were brought in 2023.
