EKO HOT BLOG reports that the 33-year-old forward announced his decision in a video shared on social media, with the club later issuing a statement confirming that both parties had agreed on his departure.
“Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell,” Salah said.
“I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in June 2017 and recently signed a two-year contract extension in April 2025, which was due to run until 2027. However, an agreement has now been reached to end the deal a year early.
Reflecting on his time at the club, the Egypt international spoke about his connection with the team and its supporters.
He said, “I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion. It’s a history. It’s a spirit.
“I can’t explain it in words to anyone not part of this club. We celebrated victory. We won the most important trophies and we fought together through the hardest time in our lives.”
Liverpool confirmed that Salah will depart at the end of the 2025 to 2026 season, describing his time at the club as a remarkable chapter.
Since his arrival, Salah has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances, making him one of Liverpool’s all-time top scorers, while also winning the Premier League Golden Boot four times.
His honours include two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the FA Community Shield.

Despite the announcement, the club said Salah remains focused on finishing the season strongly, with plans for tributes to mark his departure from Anfield later in the year.
