Hamas has confirmed it will release six more hostages on Saturday, along with the bodies of four deceased hostages on Thursday. Israel has verified the planned release, which is part of the ongoing ceasefire agreement.

Eko Hot Blog reports that according to Israeli authorities, Hamas is also expected to return the bodies of four more hostages next week.

EDITOR’S PICK

Among those set to be released on Saturday are Hisham Al-Sayed and Avera Mengistu, Hamas announced.

Despite the scheduled releases, tensions remain high. Hamas has accused Israel of delaying negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

The group claims it is ready to move forward with discussions but alleges that Israel is stalling the process.

Last week, Hamas threatened to withhold hostage releases, citing Israel’s failure to meet ceasefire conditions, including allowing displaced Palestinians to return to northern Gaza.

Hamas accused Israel of targeting those attempting to return and restricting humanitarian aid. However, the group ultimately proceeded with the exchange, freeing three hostages: U.S. national Sagui Dekel Chen, Iair Horn, and Sasha Troufanov.

In response to the latest hostage release, Israel freed 369 Palestinian prisoners on Saturday. Most of them had been detained in Gaza following Hamas’s October 7, 2023, terror attack.

Meanwhile, the situation remains uncertain, as international pressure mounts on both sides to fully implement the ceasefire terms.

U.S. President Donald Trump recently issued a warning to Hamas, setting a deadline for the release of all remaining hostages by Saturday. He stated that failure to comply would leave Israel free to decide whether to resume military operations.

With negotiations ongoing, the release of more hostages remains a crucial step in efforts to sustain the fragile ceasefire and move toward a broader resolution.
