- APC Chairman Ojelabi praises calmness and orderliness during exercise
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, on Thursday joined members of the All Progressives Congress in Epe for the party’s governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Dr. Hamzat, who emerged as the APC consensus governorship candidate, attended the exercise alongside his wife, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, as party members gathered to affirm the party’s flag bearer for the forthcoming election.
The primary election, held at Ward A4 in Epe, attracted party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and electoral monitors assigned to oversee the process across Lagos State.
Speaking after the exercise, Hamzat commended party faithful for their peaceful conduct, enthusiasm, and commitment to democratic values throughout the primary election.
According to him, democracy becomes stronger when citizens actively participate in shaping the future of their society, noting that the impressive turnout witnessed in Epe reflected the confidence and commitment of APC members toward the future of Lagos State.
“It was very encouraging to see party members exercise their democratic rights peacefully and with a strong sense of responsibility,” Hamzat stated.
The Deputy Governor also appreciated party members and supporters who participated in the exercise, thanking them for making their voices heard during the primary election process.
Also present during the exercise were APC leaders and prominent politicians from Abuja assigned to monitor the election process across the state.
Speaking at the venue, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, clarified that it was purely coincidental that the monitoring team met the Deputy Governor at Ward A4 in Epe.
According to him, Epe was only selected as part of the locations scheduled for monitoring and oversight during the governorship primary exercise.
Ojelabi further commended members of the ward for their calmness, peaceful conduct, and orderly participation throughout the primary election process in Epe and across the state.
“We commend the people for their maturity, orderliness, and peaceful participation since the commencement of the primary election exercise,” he stated.
The APC governorship primary election in Epe concluded peacefully amid tight coordination by party officials and security personnel as political activities continue to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
