The delegation, led by the Foundation’s Programs Manager, Mrs. Folashade Adebanjo, paid a courtesy visit aimed at fine-tuning the proposed launch date and operational framework of the recycling hub.
The facility is designed to allow residents to exchange recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, and other reusable waste items for cash rewards, while promoting environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
Welcoming the delegation, Hon. Olowa described the initiative as timely and impactful, noting that it aligns perfectly with his administration’s vision of building a cleaner, greener, and more prosperous Ibeju-Lekki.
“This initiative speaks directly to our commitment to environmental sustainability and economic empowerment.
The recycling hub will not only help keep our communities clean but will also enable residents to turn waste into wealth while contributing to a circular economy,” he said.
The chairman commended the Sahara Group Foundation for expanding the recycling initiative across Lagos State and assured the delegation of the local government’s readiness to provide necessary support for the successful take-off of the project.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Mrs. Folashade Adebanjo expressed appreciation for the warm reception and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to community-focused sustainability programmes.
“We are excited about partnering with Ibeju-Lekki Local Government on this project.
The recycling hub will help reduce waste pollution, create jobs, and promote financial inclusion, while empowering residents to actively participate in environmental protection,” she stated.
The meeting concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the collaboration and a shared commitment to delivering a project that will positively impact households and communities across Ibeju-Lekki.
