According to the royal father, the 2026 edition of the Ojude Oba Festival, earlier scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 28, 2026, during the Ileya celebration, was cancelled as a mark of honour and respect for the late Omola of Odomola Kingdom who reportedly passed away on May 13, 2026.
The monarch explained that the decision was jointly reached by the Orijeru-in-Council following consultations within the traditional institution.
Describing the late royal father as humble and peaceful, the Orijeru noted that the cordial relationship shared between the people of Igbooye and the late monarch would remain unforgettable.
He appealed to sons and daughters of Igbooye Kingdom, both home and abroad, to accept the decision in good faith despite the extensive preparations already made for the celebration.
The royal father, however, encouraged residents and indigenes who had already invited guests for the festive season to continue hosting them peacefully while observing the Ileya celebration in moderation, unity, and love.
He also urged the people to begin preparations for a more colourful and memorable Ojude Oba Festival in 2027 by the grace of God.
The statement further prayed for the peaceful repose of the late monarch and for strength for the people of Odomola Kingdom and the traditional institution during the mourning period.
