EKO HOT BLOG reports that results from the state showed that Amaechi secured 44,404 votes to defeat Atiku, who polled 6,570 votes.
Another aspirant in the race, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, recorded 939 votes in the state.
The result placed Amaechi ahead in Bayelsa as the party continued collating results from different states nationwide.
However, Atiku recorded a strong performance in Imo State, where he defeated Amaechi by a wide margin.
According to results from the state, Atiku secured 52,200 votes, while Amaechi polled 7,659 votes.
Hayatu-Deen came third with 1,121 votes.
The outcome from Imo handed Atiku a major boost in the contest as results from other states were still being awaited at the time of filing this report.
The ADC presidential primary is being closely monitored as the party moves to produce its flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election.
With results still emerging from across the country, the race remains open among the leading aspirants.
The figures from Bayelsa and Imo reflected mixed fortunes for the two major contenders, with Amaechi recording a decisive victory in Bayelsa while Atiku dominated in Imo.
Meanwhile, Amaechi had earlier stated that he would reject the outcome of the primary election if the process was not free and fair.
The former Rivers State governor made the statement after casting his vote at his ward in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He, however, said he would accept the result and work with whoever emerges as the party’s presidential candidate if the process is credible.
Speaking with journalists after voting, Amaechi described the turnout at his ward as impressive and peaceful.
He disclosed that officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were present during the exercise before he cast his vote.
Amaechi said, “It was a huge turnout. First, there was celebration and dancing, then we got the INEC people involved, and I cast my vote and left the place.”
The former minister said he had been monitoring the conduct of the primary election across the country from Rivers State.
According to him, his acceptance of the outcome would depend on whether the process nationwide reflected the same level of transparency witnessed in his community.

He said, “I was monitoring the country state-by-state where I was, I hope the system would be transparent as it was in my village, if it’s transparent I would accept the result but if it’s not free and fair a lot of us would react.”
Amaechi added that the ADC must ensure the process reflects the will of party members.
