The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed a viral report claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Akwukwu Igbo, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, was suspended due to a faulty registration machine.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the electoral commission described the report as false, misleading and not issued by INEC.
The clarification was contained in a statement released on Friday by the Head of Voter Education and Publicity, Nseabasi Udom.
INEC explained that the voter registration exercise is progressing according to its approved rotational schedule across the state.
According to the commission, the registration team was deployed to Ibusa on Thursday, where the exercise was successfully conducted in line with the planned timetable.
It added that the registration centre in Akwukwu Igbo is scheduled to resume operations from July 6 to July 10 as part of the commission’s structured local government rotation schedule.
The commission urged residents of Akwukwu Igbo and neighbouring communities to disregard the viral message and rely only on official INEC communication channels for verified information regarding the registration exercise.
“Eligible voters were advised to proceed with their registration and update exercises as scheduled, without fear of cancellation or disruption,” the statement said.

INEC reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, credible and accessible Continuous Voter Registration exercise across Delta State, assuring all eligible residents of equal opportunity to participate in the electoral process.
