Speaking on The Brian Kilmeade Show on Friday, Trump criticized Zelenskyy’s negotiation tactics, claiming he has “no cards” to leverage in talks.
“I’ve been watching this man for years now as his cities get demolished, as his people get killed, as his soldiers get decimated,” Trump said. “He has no cards, and you get sick of it.”

His comments come amid growing tensions between the two leaders, as well as reports of high-level U.S. meetings with Russian officials.
On Tuesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and other Kremlin representatives in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to discuss potential pathways to end the war. Notably, Ukraine was not invited to the talks.
Zelenskyy, speaking in Turkey, dismissed the exclusion, stating, “Nobody decides anything behind our back.” Trump, however, was quick to mock his response.

“I get tired of listening to it,” Trump said. “He’s been at meetings for three years with a president who didn’t know what he was doing. Nothing got done, so I don’t think he’s very important to be at meetings, to be honest with you.”
Trump also claimed credit for renewed peace discussions, asserting that neither side would negotiate if he were not involved.
“If I wasn’t in the picture, Russia would continue to go through Ukraine,” he said. “I hate the killing, and I want it to stop. But the only reason they’re talking is because of me.”
