The Lagos State Government has joined residents across the state to celebrate Iṣẹ̀ṣe Day, describing the annual observance as an important opportunity to preserve and promote Yoruba culture, traditions and heritage.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the government, in a message shared on its official X page on Thursday, extended greetings to residents across the state’s five IBILE divisions: Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, Lagos Island and Epe.

It said Iṣẹ̀ṣe Day provides an opportunity for Lagosians to reflect on the cultural values and traditions that have shaped the Yoruba people while ensuring that the heritage is preserved for future generations.
According to the government, Lagos’ transformation into a global city must not come at the expense of its history and cultural identity.
“As Lagos continues to grow as a global city, we must continue to hold on to the history, culture and traditions that make our state unique,” the government said.

It added that the state’s cultural diversity remains a key part of its identity and has contributed significantly to the vibrancy and uniqueness of Lagos.
The government also used the occasion to pray for peace, unity and prosperity across communities in the state, expressing hope that Lagos would continue to develop while retaining its cultural identity.
“May this Iṣẹ̀ṣe Day bring peace, unity and prosperity to our communities,” it said.
The state government subsequently wished all Lagosians a peaceful and memorable Iṣẹ̀ṣe Day, concluding with the Yoruba greeting: “Ẹ kú ọjọ́ Iṣẹ̀ṣe! Àṣà wa ni ìdílé wa, ilẹ̀ wa ni ìṣògo wa.”
