EKO HOT BLOG reports that Adebayo said former President Goodluck Jonathan was not ready for the presidency when he became Nigeria’s leader.
He made the remark during an appearance on the Mic On Podcast while discussing the standards that should guide the emergence of leaders in the country.
According to the SDP chieftain, Jonathan should not have occupied the presidential office because he lacked the level of preparation required for the role.
Adebayo explained that governing a country like Nigeria requires more than popularity or political support, stressing that aspiring leaders must demonstrate competence, policy understanding and administrative capability.
“Somebody like Jonathan should not have been president; he was not qualified or ready for the job,” he said.
The former presidential candidate added that anyone seeking to lead Nigeria must possess a strong grasp of policy issues, administrative experience and clear strategies for addressing national challenges.
He also emphasised the role of political parties in determining the quality of leadership that emerges during elections.
According to him, parties should strengthen their internal processes to ensure capable and well prepared individuals emerge as candidates rather than promoting figures based mainly on popularity.
