EKO HOT BLOG reports that tragedy struck at Bajida polling unit 001, Fakai Local Government Area of Kebbi South, as soldiers on patrol reportedly shot dead a suspected ballot box snatcher during the ongoing supplementary elections in the state.
The incident occurred as the unidentified man attempted to snatch a ballot box from officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while intruding into the polling unit, claiming to be a security agent.

According to reports, the man attempted to snatch a gun from a soldier at the polling unit, prompting the soldiers to take action by shooting him. Eyewitnesses at the scene claim that the suspect was shot dead immediately, leaving no chance for medical intervention.
As news of the incident spread, tension rose in the area, and many voters were forced to flee for their safety. Security personnel, however, managed to restore calm and ensure the continuation of the electoral process.
The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that investigations into the matter had commenced. The spokesperson for the Command, DSP Nafiu Abubakar, disclosed that the body of the deceased had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, while efforts were being made to identify the suspect.
