The Yeye Sewa title, regarded as one of the most distinguished female chieftaincy positions in Lagos, was last held by the late Chief Kemi Nelson, a prominent political figure who passed away in 2022.
Ogbara’s installation places her among a select group of women recognised for leadership, service, and influence within the palace hierarchy.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier congratulated Ogbara on the honour, describing it as well deserved and reflective of her contributions to Lagos State and Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President commended the Oba of Lagos for the decision and described the Yeye Sewa title as a distinguished position within the traditional system.
Tinubu also praised Ogbara’s record in public service, particularly her legislative advocacy for women’s empowerment and her efforts to promote greater female participation in politics.

Ogbara represents Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and currently serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Women’s Affairs, where she has championed policies on gender inclusion, social welfare, and the protection of women and vulnerable groups.
The conferment underscores the evolving intersection between traditional institutions and modern governance, as the Oba of Lagos continues to recognise public office holders who contribute meaningfully to societal development.
Ogbara also holds another traditional title, having been installed in August 2025 as Yeye Asoludero of Agboyi Kingdom by the Olu of Agboyi, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, further cementing her role in community leadership.
The ceremony attracted several dignitaries, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, the Oniru of Iru Kingdom, Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Chief Adebayo Kuku, Prince Samuel Adedoyin, political leaders, traditional rulers, and other invited guests.
The event comes amid ongoing national conversations on women’s representation in governance, with Ogbara actively involved in legislative efforts advocating reserved seats for women in the House of Representatives.
