The Kano State House of Assembly has been thrown into deep sorrow following the sudden loss of two sitting lawmakers, Aminu Ungoggo and Aliyu Sarki Daneji, who reportedly died just hours apart on Wednesday.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the first casualty was Ungoggo, who chaired the Assembly’s Committee on Appropriation and was said to have slumped at the Assembly complex after a brief health challenge.

Confirmation of his death was contained in a statement issued by the Speaker’s spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Ungoggo passed away while carrying out his legislative duties and is survived by his wife and children.
Reacting to the tragic development, Speaker of the House, Jibril Falgore, expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased lawmakers, their constituents, and members of the Assembly, describing the loss as devastating.

He noted that Ungoggo’s demise occurred at a critical moment when his experience and service were greatly needed by the people of Kano State.
The late lawmaker was scheduled to be laid to rest later on Wednesday at about 6:00pm in his hometown, in line with Islamic rites.
