EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a joint statement, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy, and Security, Hon. Stephen Ogundipe, and the Chairman of the House Committee on Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, said no funds were allocated for the purchase of houses in Abuja or any location outside Lagos State.
The lawmakers said the claim was baseless and politically motivated, stressing that the Assembly’s responsibilities, duties, and constituencies are strictly within Lagos.
They described it as illogical to suggest that public funds would be used to acquire personal housing for lawmakers outside the state where they serve.
According to the statement, the full 2026 budget is publicly available and clearly outlines the government’s priorities, which focus on meeting the needs of Lagos residents while ensuring responsible management of public resources.
The Assembly noted that its capital expenditure for 2026 accounts for less than 0.04 percent of the state’s total capital spending, describing this as evidence of fiscal discipline and accountability.
The lawmakers added that in previous budget years, the Assembly often did not exhaust its approved capital allocation.
They urged Lagos residents to disregard the false reports and rely on official sources for accurate and verified information.
The statement also warned that individuals spreading the claim could face legal action if they fail to provide evidence to support their allegations.

The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, good governance, and the welfare of Lagos residents, in line with the objectives of the 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity.
