The bye-elections, taking place in the Bagwai and Shanono State Assembly constituencies, were organized to fill the seat left vacant after the death of the former representative, late Ali Ibrahim Kwadila, last year.

In addition, a supplementary re-run election is being held in the Gari and Tsanyawa constituencies. This election is meant to complete a previous re-run that was stopped last year because of security concerns in the area.

Despite the different reasons for the polls, reports from all locations indicate that the exercises are proceeding smoothly and without any issues.
The peaceful conduct of the elections has been noted by observers.
