The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested seven suspected bandits as part of ongoing investigations into criminal activities in Bagudo Local Government Area, including the recent killing of three officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended during coordinated intelligence-led operations carried out on June 5 across the Soda Forest corridor and nearby border settlements known for criminal activities.

Police said operatives of the Mobile Police Force intercepted three suspects travelling on a Haojue motorcycle along the Illo-Lolo route after receiving credible intelligence.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects were allegedly transporting food supplies to bandits hiding in the Soda Forest area.
The motorcycle used during the trip was recovered by security personnel.
In a separate operation conducted along the Bakin Ruwa-Ka’oje axis, officers arrested four additional suspects as part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the area.
The seven suspects are currently being held in custody while investigators work to establish their alleged roles in criminal activities and determine whether they are connected to recent attacks, including the incident that claimed the lives of three FRSC officers.

Commenting on the arrests, Commissioner of Police Umar Hadejia described the operation as a major success in the command’s campaign against banditry and violent crime.
He commended the officers involved for their commitment and professionalism and also acknowledged residents who provided useful information that aided the operations.
The police chief reiterated the command’s resolve to sustain intelligence-driven security operations aimed at disrupting criminal activities, restoring peace in affected communities and ensuring that offenders face justice.
He also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing credible information with security agencies, assuring them that all reports would be handled confidentially.
Police authorities stated that the suspects would be charged in court upon the completion of investigations.
