EKO HOT BLOG reports that the installation ceremony marks the climax of a weeklong programme. Ladoja, who progressed through Ibadan’s chieftaincy ladder, will receive the Staff of Office from Governor Seyi Makinde at the historic Mapo Hall.
Local streets—Mokola, Ring Road, Eleyele, Iwo Road and others are festooned with giant billboards and posters of the new king. Security forces and traffic management officials have been deployed. Guests and dignitaries, including President Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, are expected to arrive via the newly reopened Ibadan airport.
Ladoja was nominated to succeed Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died in July at age 90. His rise to the throne reflects years of service in the traditional hierarchy and his long history in politics and public service.
Some in Ibadan see the coronation as a moment of unity and cultural renewal. Many expect the new monarch to bring stability, development, and a revival of tradition and good governance.
Still, expectations are high and the spotlight is on how Ladoja balances royal duties with public expectations in a city where tradition, politics, and modern life intersect.
