Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has described the Lagos Food Festival as a platform that has empowered entrepreneurs while strengthening family bonds and celebrating the city’s rich culinary diversity over the years.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the governor made the remarks on Sunday while participating in cooking and food tasting activities at the 2025 Lagos Food Festival held at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island.

The annual event, themed “Taste Beyond Borders,” attracted residents and visitors who were treated to a mix of local and international cuisines alongside live music and entertainment.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the festival is one of the flagship initiatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, adding that it has played a key role in supporting food entrepreneurs, boosting agriculture, and promoting food security in the state.

He explained that beyond business opportunities, the festival provides a relaxed environment for families to connect and experience the diverse cultures that define Lagos.
The governor also shared his experience of cooking seafood rice with stir-fried spinach, describing the festival as a celebration of creativity within the food and catering industry.
In addition to the food festival, Sanwo-Olu visited an art exhibition where dozens of artists displayed wall paintings, which he said reflected the vibrant creativity that characterises Lagos.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Abisola Olusanya, described the festival as a showcase of Lagos’ multicultural identity, noting that many food entrepreneurs have gained visibility and recognition through the event.
She added that the festival also serves as a moment to celebrate the efforts of individuals and institutions contributing to food availability and innovation in the state.
The event attracted top government officials, lawmakers, traditional leaders, chefs, students, and food vendors, with some participants receiving prizes for outstanding culinary displays.
