LASTMA’s General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described the drone deployment as a “watershed moment” for traffic management in Lagos. He explained that the drones will provide real-time aerial oversight, enabling faster interventions, improved safety outcomes, and better coordination during emergencies and accidents.
Bakare-Oki emphasized that strict privacy safeguards and ethical standards would guide the use of the drones. The technology will complement LASTMA’s existing operations and its dedicated toll-free hotline.
Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, Mr. Adebayo Taofiq, reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to continuously innovate in reducing travel time, preventing accidents, and safeguarding lives and property across Lagos.
This deployment, he said, proves Governor Sanwo-Olu’s dedication to using technology as a key driver for building a safer, smarter, and more livable city.
