The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 46-year-old man, Jude Onouha, alleged leader of a notorious syndicate that specialised in vandalising luxury vehicles across residential estates in the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released via the Command’s official X handle on Saturday, police said the gang operated by disguising themselves in fake security uniforms and gaining access to estates under the pretext of conducting security checks.

According to the statement, the suspects used a modified Mercedes-Benz car jack crafted to resemble a firearm to deceive estate security personnel and residents. Once inside, they targeted high-end vehicles including Toyota Hilux, Toyota Highlander, Lexus 650, Mercedes-Benz, and other SUVs.
The gang was said to have systematically dismantled vehicles, removing vital components such as brainboxes, tapping glasses, wiring systems, side mirrors, and other control devices.
Recovered from Onouha were the fake weapon, the modified car jack, and a cap inscribed with “Special Force,” which he allegedly used for disguise.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, described the arrest as a “major victory” against organised criminal networks in the state.
“The suspect has corroborated his involvement and is assisting detectives with investigations. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the other fleeing gang members so they face the full weight of the law,” Jimoh stated.
The Police Command urged estate managers and residents to remain vigilant, stressing the importance of verifying the identity of anyone posing as a security operative before granting access.
“Where there is doubt, refer such persons to the nearest police division immediately,” the Commissioner added.
