The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, on Wednesday conducted an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University in Lekki following the circulation of a viral video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forested area near the institution.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the inspection, carried out alongside senior operational officers of the Lagos State Police Command, was aimed at evaluating the security situation around the campus and reassuring students, staff and parents about ongoing safety measures.

During the visit, the police commissioner met with the management of the university and emphasised the need to strengthen existing security arrangements within and around the campus to prevent possible threats.
Jimoh advised the institution to adopt more proactive security strategies, particularly in perimeter surveillance and access control, while also stressing the importance of collaboration with relevant security agencies.
A statement from the Lagos State Police Command noted that the commissioner highlighted the need for enhanced coordination and vigilance, warning against lapses that could undermine safety structures.

As part of broader efforts to improve security operations within the Lekki axis, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund has deployed surveillance drones to support law enforcement activities in the area.
According to the police, the drone deployment, facilitated by the state government, will enhance aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering and crime prevention efforts.
CP Jimoh reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Lagos State, assuring the university community of swift response to any security concerns.
He urged students, staff and management to remain vigilant and to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, noting that public cooperation is critical to effective policing.
The commissioner further encouraged the university to maintain close collaboration with security agencies in order to ensure a safe environment for academic activities.
The Lagos State Police Command also reaffirmed its commitment to public safety across the state and advised residents to make use of emergency hotlines to report security-related incidents.
