The Lagos State Ministry of Housing on Saturday engaged residents of government-owned housing estates in Ikorodu in a bid to address challenges and improve living conditions.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the stakeholders’ forum was held at the Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate, bringing together residents and officials to discuss key concerns affecting the estates.

Speaking at the meeting, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Abdulhafis Toriola, said the engagement was designed to gather feedback directly from residents and develop practical solutions to issues within the estates.
He acknowledged that challenges are common in active communities but assured residents of the government’s commitment to resolving them. He also announced that such engagements would now be held monthly.
Toriola urged residents to comply with regulations guiding government estates, emphasising the importance of adhering to both state and national laws.
Also speaking, the Director of the Estate Department, Olukemi Fosudo, said the ministry regularly organises stakeholder meetings to address concerns and sustain the estates.
She noted that the forum covered six housing estates in Ikorodu, including Prince Abiodun Ogunleye Housing Estate, Babatunde Olushola Benson Housing Estate, Millennium Housing Estate, Jubilee Housing Estate, and another Millennium Estate in Ibeshe.
Residents, represented by the Chairman of the Community Development Association of Oba Adeboruwa Estate, Hammed Bolaji, acknowledged improvements such as repairs to the main gate and repainting of buildings, while also calling for additional support.
He appealed for the provision of more facilities, including healthcare services, recreational spaces, and event centres.

During the session, residents raised concerns about poor drainage systems, and the Permanent Secretary assured them that the issue would be addressed promptly.
Officials from the Lagos State Waste Management Authority advised against improper waste disposal practices, while representatives of the fire service educated residents on fire safety measures.
In addition, officials from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) urged parents to monitor their children to prevent drug abuse, while LASACO Assurance Plc highlighted the importance of insuring properties.
