However, the situation took a disturbing turn after the intervention.
According to authorities, the suspect was arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Touting Squad (SASA), a security unit under the state government, following a report from a concerned individual in a nearby community.
A spokesperson for the security outfit, Karen James, explained that the victim had initially been entrusted to the suspect for spiritual help before the incident was uncovered. She added that the matter came to light when the girl’s aunt discovered she was pregnant and, upon questioning, the victim reportedly mentioned the suspect’s involvement.
In a viral video circulating online, the suspect reportedly admitted to the allegations and expressed regret over his actions. He also claimed he attempted to address the situation in an effort to avoid public embarrassment and pleaded for leniency from law enforcement, promising to take responsibility for the girl’s medical needs if granted freedom.

Speaking about her experience, the victim recounted that the ordeal began in November 2025 after she was taken to the suspect for deliverance. She alleged that what was supposed to be a spiritual intervention escalated into repeated abuse, which eventually led to her pregnancy.
She further claimed that threats were made to prevent her from speaking out, leaving her fearful and unable to seek help earlier.
The victim also revealed that she is currently experiencing health complications as a result of attempts made to terminate the pregnancy and expressed that she lacks the financial means to access proper medical care.
Appreciating the efforts of the security operatives who intervened, she appealed to the Anambra State Government, NGOs, and kind-hearted individuals for support to help her recover and receive proper treatment.
