The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has confirmed the arrest and arraignment of a man accused of violently assaulting his partner in a case that sparked outrage on social media, Eko Hot Blog reports.
According to the agency, the incident came to light after a distress video shared on TikTok by the victim, who revealed she was receiving treatment in hospital following the attack.

The DSVA said it quickly reached out to the survivor, ensured the case was formally reported, and connected her with the necessary support services.
Preliminary findings show that the incident occurred on March 21, 2026, and was reported at the FESTAC Police Station, where it is now being handled by the Family Support Unit.
Authorities confirmed that the victim sustained severe injuries, including the loss of a finger. The suspect was later arrested, investigated, and charged to court.

The case was filed at Court 6, MBA Ajegunle, and the defendant has since been remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre pending further proceedings.
While the court granted the suspect bail set at ₦200,000 with two sureties, the next hearing has been scheduled for April 29, 2026.
The agency also disclosed that the survivor is currently receiving psychosocial support to aid her recovery, as efforts continue to ensure justice is served.
The case has once again highlighted the urgent need to address domestic violence and ensure victims receive timely protection and support.
