The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has intensified its clampdown on environmental violations, sealing several establishments in the Ifako Ijaiye and Igando areas for repeated cases of noise and air pollution.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the agency said the enforcement was carried out on Monday as part of its ongoing efforts to restore environmental sanity and protect public health across the state.

Among the affected premises were the Cherubim and Seraphim (King of Kings) Church located within Georgius Cole Estate, Ifako Ijaiye, a fufu-making shop shut for heat and air pollution, and Tyonex Nigeria Limited on LASU–Isheri Road, Igando, sealed for creating environmental nuisance.
LASEPA General Manager, Babatunde Ajayi, said the operation followed multiple complaints from residents about noise from the church and other environmental concerns despite earlier warnings.

Ajayi expressed disapproval of the church’s continued operation in a residential estate, describing it as illegal and disruptive.
“As much as there is freedom of worship in the state, no individual or organisation is allowed to infringe on the rights of others or negatively affect their health in the name of religious activities,” he said.
He reaffirmed LASEPA’s zero tolerance for all forms of pollution, urging residents to report environmental infractions through official channels.
This development comes shortly after the Lagos State Government sealed the sewage and wastewater treatment facility of Yaba College of Technology for allegedly discharging raw sewage into the environment. The enforcement was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office under the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, following several ignored warning letters sent to the institution.
