- Security officials have been urged to cooperate with social workers by providing assistance to survivors of Gender based Violence (GBV) in getting justice.
Speaking at a one- day training on GBV for LGs/LCDAs HOD on Women Affairs Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) and CSOs organised by Lagos State Government with support from Joint EU-UN Spotlight Initiative, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hon.Cecilia Dada, said most social workers get discouraged with the attitude of security officials when attempting to help victims.

“Already, the state govt. is collaborating with security officials as we have Gender Unit desk in all the police stations in the state thereby ensuring that perpetrators are brought to book, but police need to play their part,” Dada said.
She also enjoined victims of GBV to speak up and speak out because failure to do so can lead to their death.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Oluyemi Kalesanwo, said proper education and awareness on the part of family members is necessary in ending GBV.
“Bear in mind that domestic violence case is a case against the state, so allow the state to handle it” said Kalesanwo.
