Speaking at the session, LAWMA Managing Director, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to the welfare of its frontline workers.
He explained that the exercise covered the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, face masks, and safety boots, as well as safe methods for handling and disposing of waste, especially hazardous materials.
According to him, the initiative is part of a broader plan to strengthen safety standards and ensure that sweepers are well-prepared for the demands of their job.

Gbadegesin noted that sanitation workers often operate in tough conditions, making it essential for them to have the right tools, training, and awareness to reduce risks and improve productivity.
He added that LAWMA would continue to organise regular training programmes and safety campaigns to build a strong safety culture across its operations.
The agency also commended the dedication of highway sweepers and encouraged them to consistently follow safety guidelines while on duty.
