- Lawsuit against Jay-Z and Diddy dismissed as plaintiff withdraws case.
- Jay-Z calls the allegations “frivolous” and celebrates legal victory.
- Diddy still faces multiple lawsuits and remains in federal custody.
A lawsuit alleging that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jay-Z sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in 2000 has been dismissed, according to court documents filed in New York on Friday.
The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, voluntarily withdrew the case, as confirmed by legal records. The lawsuit was dismissed “with prejudice,” meaning it cannot be refiled in its current form.

Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents multiple plaintiffs in sexual misconduct lawsuits against Combs, submitted the filing.
Following the dismissal, Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, issued a statement in which the rapper, born Shawn Carter, described the ruling as a “victory.”
“The frivolous, fictitious, and appalling allegations have been dismissed,” he wrote. “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere. The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims.”
Jay-Z added that he and his family had endured significant trauma due to the accusations and called for courts to protect both real victims and those falsely accused.
His attorney, Alex Spiro, stated that the lawsuit “never should have been brought” and praised Jay-Z for resisting pressure to settle.

Jane Doe originally filed the lawsuit against Combs in October before later adding Jay-Z in December, alleging that both men assaulted her following an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty.
Jay-Z denied the accusations, claiming an extortion attempt was made to force a settlement, which instead motivated him to fight the allegations in court.
The case against Jay-Z weakened in December when the plaintiff gave an interview admitting that “not all the facts are clear” and that she may have misidentified someone.
Last month, Jay-Z formally requested the lawsuit’s dismissal, citing inconsistencies in the plaintiff’s account. U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres approved the request, officially ending the case.

Meanwhile, Combs continues to face over three dozen civil suits. His legal team welcomed Friday’s dismissal, stating, “Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them.”
Combs has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Centre in Brooklyn since September 2024 on federal charges related to racketeering and sex trafficking. He has been denied bail three times and remains in custody ahead of his trial scheduled for May 5, 2025.
