1. FG shuts Apapa-bound lane as Ijora bridge caves in
The Federal Ministry of Works on Wednesday shut down the Apapa-bound lane of the beginning of Marine Bridge in Lagos, damaged by vandals, for the safety of the public.
A News Agency of Nigeria correspondent who visited the site of the collapsed portion of the bridge reports that a team of engineers from Buildwell Plants and Equipment Industries Ltd used crash barriers to barricade the damaged portion of the deck on the pile bridge.
A deck on a pile is a bridge that does not have piers.
NAN observed that while the firm, and contractors handling, Eko and Marine Bridge projects, did that, a combined team of traffic regulatory agencies managed traffic around the diversion.
2. Speakership: Ooni urges Abbas, Kalu to work for Nigeria
A foremost Yoruba monarch, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has urged the candidates of the All Progressives Congress for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the coming 10th House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, to always have the interest of Nigeria at heart in the discharge of their duties as presiding officers.

According to a statement issued after the meeting by the Abbas Tajudeen/Benjamin Kalu Campaign Office, the monarch reminded the APC candidates of their changing positions and their attendant responsibilities, noting that the country must come first in their leadership estimation.
3. Lagos police detain officers brutalising Okada man in viral video
The Nigeria Police Force said it had arrested and detained the policemen who were seen in a viral video brutalising an Okada rider in Lagos.
The Force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this on Wednesday evening during a Twitter Space webinar organised by Premium Times.
The PUNCH reports that three policemen were seen in the viral video brutalising the Okada man, identified as Al-Hassan Usman, in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.
One of the policemen was seen hitting his baton on the man as another one repeatedly pushed him away aggressively.

4. FG to generate N369bn from Abuja, Kano airport concession
The Federal Government, yesterday, approved the concession of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano for 20 and 30 years respectively.
The government also said it was planning to generate $797.4m (N368.8bn) as concession fees and taxes from the Concessionair, Corporación America Airports.
The Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika, stated this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The Minister said, “Put together it is about $800m. And this is equal to the amount of money that we borrowed to build those four airports.”
5. 10th NASS: Akpabio, Gbajabiamila, Abbas, Kalu meet opposition parties Reps-elect
The preferred candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the presiding officers of the incoming 10th National Assembly last night met with the opposition parties’ members-elect.
The candidates included Senator Godswill Akpabio chosen for Senate President, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu for speaker and the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.
Also present was the outgoing speaker of the House, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila.
6. World Bank reassures of continuous support for Nigeria
