The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Samuel Akoade for allegedly hacking his mother, Olufunke Akoade, to death in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident occurred on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at about 5pm in the Powerline area of Ore.

The victim was reportedly found lying in a pool of blood at her residence after allegedly sustaining deep machete cuts.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, said operatives of the Ore Division responded to the report and secured the scene.
According to him, a machete suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered, while the scene was photographed and documented as part of the preliminary investigation.

Jimoh said the suspected assailant, who was initially identified only as Samuel, had reportedly fled the scene before the arrival of the police.
He, however, said sustained efforts by the operatives led to the arrest of Samuel Akoade, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited at a mortuary, while the suspect remains in police custody.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Akure for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, directed that the circumstances surrounding the killing be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable be brought to justice.
The command also urged residents to provide timely information about suspicious activities in their communities.
