A 23-year-old man, Solomon Fabiyi, has been arrested by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly attempting to use his seven-year-old nephew, Jomiloju, for a money ritual.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Sunday Abutu, confirmed that Fabiyi was apprehended on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Ado-Ekiti before he could carry out the act.
According to Abutu, the suspect confessed to the crime and has already been arraigned.
“He was arrested by our operatives on Friday, February 14, 2025, at about 7:00 PM following a tip-off while he was on the verge of using his nephew for a money ritual,” Abutu told journalists.
In a viral social media video, Fabiyi admitted that a local herbalist had instructed him to bring someone for the ritual, claiming the victim would not die but would suffer an ailment. However, in a surprising turn of events, the same herbalist alerted the police when Fabiyi brought the child for the ritual, leading to his arrest.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Fabiyi’s case follows the recent arrest of a 29-year-old self-proclaimed Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohammed Bello, who was accused of killing and dismembering a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsah Yetunde, for ritual purposes.
