A Kaduna Chief Magistrates Court has sentenced 23 year old Kingsley Timothy to 15 strokes of the cane for stealing 2 phones valued at N650,000 inside a church.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Timothy, a resident of Narayi in Kaduna, pleaded guilty to a 2 count charge of theft and asked the court for leniency.

Magistrate Ibrahim Emmanuel ordered the corporal punishment and advised the convict to “be of good behaviour,” warning that the court “would not be lenient next time.”
Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Chidi Leo, said the case was reported by Richard Samuel of Christ Life Ministry on November 15.
He told the court that Timothy stole a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and an Infinix phone, both worth N650,000, while they were charging in the church. He said the suspect was caught shortly after the theft and handed over to the police.
The prosecutor added that the offence violated Section 217 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
