Former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye, has said that any presidential candidate produced by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) would outperform President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking during an interview on Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, Eko Hot Blog reports that Melaye criticised the current administration and expressed confidence in the opposition’s chances in a credible election.

He argued that the President could be defeated if the process is free and fair, adding that he personally believes he has the capacity to win such a contest.

Despite his comments, Melaye said his immediate priority is not necessarily pursuing his own presidential ambition but supporting a united opposition.
According to him, whoever emerges as the ADC candidate through consensus or party primaries would receive his backing.
He also dismissed talks of forming joint tickets, stressing that the focus should be on what he described as efforts to improve governance in the country.
Melaye further suggested that the opposition would demand a transparent electoral process, warning that fairness must be ensured in future elections.

In addition, he raised concerns about governance, alleging undue influence by unelected individuals, including references to Seyi Tinubu.
He also cited remarks by Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka in support of his position.
The former senator maintained that opposition figures are already strategising ahead of upcoming elections, emphasising that unity will be critical to their success.
