Alia explained that the passengers were travelling toward Otukpo when they were attacked, noting that several individuals were taken during the incident, while a few managed to escape shortly after.
He confirmed that all remaining victims had now been freed through coordinated efforts by security agencies and local communities.
He specifically called on JAMB to make special arrangements for the affected candidates so they would not miss their opportunity to sit for the examination.
The governor also directed the state’s health authorities to ensure the rescued individuals receive proper medical attention at a government facility before being reunited with their families.

He commended the Olatunji Disu and other security leaders for their role in the successful rescue operation, adding that several arrests have already been made in connection with the crime.
According to the state police command, the operation involved collaboration between multiple security agencies and community members, leading to the safe recovery of the victims.
Alia further appealed for sustained efforts to tackle criminal activities in remote areas, stressing the need to restore peace and security across the state.
