EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to military sources, the operation was conducted in the early hours of June 7 during an armed reconnaissance and air interdiction mission over the Ali Sherifti area of the state.
A source told Zagazola Makama that air assets operating under the call sign “Guardian” identified and tracked eight suspected terrorists gathered beneath a tree during surveillance of the area.
Further intelligence and aerial observation reportedly revealed another group of four insurgents positioned close to a vehicle concealed under thick foliage.
Following positive identification of the targets, the air component launched a precision strike on the first group, successfully neutralising the eight terrorists.
“Subsequent battle damage assessment indicated movement by four additional terrorists within the vicinity who attempted to flee the area,” the source said.
The military source added that a follow-up strike was immediately carried out on the second group as well as the concealed vehicle.
According to the assessment conducted after the operation, the vehicle was destroyed, while no further movement was observed from the targeted location.
Military sources said the mission formed part of ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities, disrupt their mobility and deny them freedom of action across the North East operational theatre.
They noted that sustained coordination between air and ground forces has continued to produce significant operational successes against terrorist elements operating in the region.
The sources added that security forces remain committed to maintaining pressure on terrorist hideouts and supporting broader efforts to restore peace, stability and security in affected communities.

Operation Hadin Kai has intensified both aerial and ground offensives in recent months as part of ongoing military operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks and reducing insurgent activities across Borno and other parts of the North East.
