Nigeria’s Super Falcons suffered a 1-0 defeat to Cameroon in their 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash, with Nyadjou’s first half goal proving decisive.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nyadjou scored in the 19th minute to give Cameroon the lead, which the Indomitable Lionesses successfully defended until the final whistle despite sustained pressure from Nigeria.
The Super Falcons created several opportunities as they searched for an equaliser but were repeatedly denied by Cameroon goalkeeper Michaely Bihina.
Bihina produced eight saves during the match to keep Nigeria from finding the back of the net and preserve Cameroon’s narrow advantage.
Nigeria increased the pressure after falling behind, with the Super Falcons pushing forward in search of a goal.
However, they struggled to convert their chances as Bihina continued to frustrate the Nigerian attack with a series of important saves.
The defeat ended Nigeria’s 2026 WAFCON campaign at the quarter-final stage and denied the Super Falcons direct qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Under the qualification arrangement, the four teams that reach the WAFCON semi-finals will secure automatic qualification for the 2027 Women’s World Cup.
Nigeria’s quarter-final elimination means the Super Falcons will miss out on one of the four automatic African qualification places.
However, their hopes of reaching the World Cup remain alive through the African play-off route.
Nigeria will join the other three teams eliminated at the quarter-final stage in the African play-off phase.
The team that emerges successfully from the African play-off route will advance to the inter-confederation play-offs, where another opportunity to secure a place at the 2027 Women’s World Cup will be available.
The Super Falcons therefore face a longer qualification route after their 1-0 defeat to Cameroon.
The 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup will be hosted by Brazil.
