The 14 Brigade Nigerian Army has alerted the residents of Abia State to a scheduled shooting exercise aimed at enhancing the combat readiness and marksmanship of its personnel.
Eko Hot Blog reports that in a statement released by Captain Muyiwa Ayara on behalf of the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the military explained that the exercise is a routine part of the “82 Division Corporals and Below Competition 2026.”

The exercise, which spans both afternoon and night hours at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Shooting Range, is designed to improve the operational efficiency of participating soldiers.
To ensure the safety of lives and property, the Army has established a controlled and secure environment, urging the public to avoid unauthorized movements within the designated training zone.
Military authorities have specifically requested that the public adhere to the following safety measures:
- Maintain calm and do not panic at the sound of gunshots during the designated hours.
- Strictly avoid the shooting range and its immediate environs throughout the duration of the drill.
- Follow all instructions provided by military personnel on the ground.
The announcement of the military exercise comes amidst a busy day of administrative changes in Nigeria.
