Mr Ibu’s Body Departs Lagos For Hometown Burial (Video)
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Veteran Nigerian comic actor John Okafor, fondly known as Mr Ibu, began his final journey. Mr. Ibu passed away on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024, at the age of 62 from a cardiac arrest, leaving a void in the Nollywood film industry.

According reports, Mr. Ibu’s body was carefully removed from the Lagos hospital mortuary by staff and wheeled out to a waiting vehicle. A somber mood filled the air as his wife, Stella Okafor, dressed in mourning black, watched tearfully alongside their two sons, Daniel and Valentine Okafor.
The news comes after a short battle with illness, which saw Mr. Ibu undergo a leg amputation in November 2023. Despite this setback, his final moments were reportedly filled with grace. A recently surfaced video shows Mr. Ibu expressing gratitude to singer Rudeboy of P-Square, reflecting on faith and the afterlife.
Mr. Ibu’s body is now being transported to his hometown in Enugu State, where he will be laid to rest. Fans and colleagues across Nigeria are expected to pay their final respects as the nation mourns the loss of a comedic legend.

Recall that had battled ill health for some time, leading to the amputation of his legs. This was after he had appealed to his fans and members of the public to prayer for him and render financial assistance to cover his medical bills.
However, as the actor lay on his hospital bed, members of his family were in a fierce battle, During this period, his family seemed to have been in a fierce battle, as they accused one another of wanting to embezzle the money raised by members of the public.
It was also alleged that the actor was involved in an affair with his adopted daughter, Chioma (Jasmine); though both parties denied the allegations.
Indeed, the actor’s last years had been tumultuous. On different occasions, he claimed to have survived several poison attempts. According to him, three attempts were made on his life but he survived them all.
