EKO HOT BLOG reports that this was confirmed in a statement issued Thursday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
The airstrikes, which were executed on Wednesday under Operation Hadin Kai, followed actionable intelligence on terrorist movements and activities in the area. Surveillance footage reportedly identified a hidden IED production facility and logistics vehicles within the vicinity.
Gabkwet noted that NAF fighter aircraft conducted precise strikes that destroyed the IED factory and neutralised several fighters, dealing a significant blow to the insurgents’ capacity to wage attacks.
“This operation marks a strategic setback for the terrorists’ command, logistics, and morale,” he stated. “It demonstrates NAF’s commitment to dismantling terrorist strongholds and enhancing security in the North East.”
In a related development, the Nigerian Air Force has intensified efforts to restore peace in Nigeria’s North Central region by deploying additional air assets under Operation Whirl Stroke.
According to the NAF, the reinforcements are expected to boost aerial surveillance, support ground troops, and increase public confidence in areas plagued by banditry, kidnappings, and communal clashes.
This announcement followed a strategic evaluation visit by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, to the Headquarters of the Tactical Air Command in Makurdi, Benue State.

Air Commodore Gabkwet explained that the deployment reflects NAF’s evolving strategy to counter emerging threats and improve response times in flashpoint areas.
